We are currently looking for a Senior R&D Controller for an assignment with an international industrial company operating within advanced propulsion technology and product development.

The company develops and manufactures next-generation powertrain and mobility solutions in a global, innovation-driven environment with operations across multiple international sites. The assignment is based in a highly complex and technology-focused organization where finance plays a key role in supporting business decisions, R&D investments, and operational performance.

About the assignment

This is a senior and business-critical consulting assignment where you will work closely with R&D leadership, Finance, and operational teams to strengthen financial steering, transparency, and decision-making across the R&D portfolio.

The role requires someone who can quickly understand complex environments, build trust with senior stakeholders, and create structure and clarity in fast-moving organizations.

Key responsibilities

• Drive financial steering and performance follow-up across the R&D portfolio
• Lead forecasting, budgeting, scenario planning, and cost/resource outlooks
• Deliver executive-level reporting and actionable financial insights
• Support investment decisions, business cases, and prioritization activities
• Improve governance, financial routines, KPI structures, and reporting quality
• Act as a senior finance business partner and trusted advisor to managers and stakeholders
• Collaborate cross-functionally between R&D, Finance, and operational teams
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and more efficient financial processes
• Depending on scope, support reporting and follow-up activities involving external partners or customers

Required qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or similar
• Extensive experience within controlling, FP&A, or finance business partnering in complex environments
• Experience working closely with senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making
• Strong analytical capabilities within forecasting, financial planning, and performance management
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial flows
• Advanced Excel skills and strong systems understanding
• Fluent English, both written and spoken

Meritorious experience

• Experience with SAP and/or Power BI
• Background in R&D controlling, project controlling, or product development organizations
